How do I handle different quotas during choice filling?

You do not need to create separate lists! If you are eligible for both AIQ and a Special Quota (like DU Internal, IP University, or ESIC), you should interleave all eligible choices into one single preference list. The algorithm evaluates your list top-to-bottom, checking your rank against each specific college and quota combination in exact sequence.

Example Sequence:
  1. Choice #1: MAMC, New Delhi — Delhi University Quota
  2. Choice #2: MAMC, New Delhi — All India Quota
  3. Choice #3: VMMC, New Delhi — IP University Quota
  4. Choice #4: AIIMS, New Delhi — Open Seat Quota

The system evaluates Choice #1 first. If you don't qualify under the DU quota, it immediately evaluates Choice #2 under All India Quota, and so forth. Always rank choices strictly based on your true college preference.

How many rounds are conducted in MCC Counselling?
MCC conducts four main online rounds for All India Quota (15%) and Central Universities: Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, and the Stray Vacancy Round. There is no longer any physical reverting of vacant AIQ seats back to the respective states after Round 2.
Can I upgrade my allotted seat in subsequent rounds?
Yes, candidates can opt for seat upgradation up to Round 3 using the "Float" option. Documents and eligibility verification for upgraded seats are processed dynamically according to MCC guidelines.
What is a "Free Exit" and when can I use it?
A Free Exit is strictly available in Round 1. If you are allotted a seat in Round 1 and choose not to report or join, you can exit freely without forfeiting your security deposit. However, exiting or resigning a seat allotted in Round 2 or later results in the forfeiture of your security fees.
Do I need to submit fresh choices for Round 2 and Round 3?
Yes! Fresh choice filling is mandatory for every round. Your preferences from Round 1 automatically expire and will not carry forward to Round 2 or Round 3. If you fail to submit fresh choices in a subsequent round, no seat will be allotted to you in that round.
How does the MCC algorithm evaluate my preference list?
The algorithm processes your submitted list strictly from top to bottom (Choice #1 down to Choice #N). It checks if a seat is available for your rank and category starting from your first choice. The very first choice for which you meet the cutoff is locked and allotted to you. Therefore, there is zero penalty for placing ambitious, high-tier colleges at the top of your preference list.
What are the different types of quotas in MCC Counselling?
MCC Counselling features two main types of seat pools: Standard AIQ Quotas (which cover 15% of seats in state government colleges and 100% of seats in central institutes) and Special/Institutional Quotas. Your eligibility dictates which pools you can draw from during allotment.
What is the difference between AIQ Quotas and Special Quotas?
Standard AIQ Quotas follow the central reservation policy (UR, OBC-NCL, EWS, SC, ST, PwD) and are open to candidates nationwide based on category. Special Quotas are unique to specific universities or conditions. Examples include Internal/Domicile quotas for Delhi University (DU) or AMU, Armed Forces (CW) quota, and the ESIC Insured Persons quota.
